GPS and Mount - Desertwolf 3/1/09
I wanted to mount my Garmin GPS on the bike. I purchased the optional bike mount from Garmin for my model of GPS and then created a custom mount. I removed the front windscreen and cover and mounted a bracket with a piece of pipe into the metal support that holds the instrument cluster. To help with the vibs on our bike I used rubber washers and nylon nuts so nothing would come loose. I purchased a standard 12 volt outlet and wired it in the open area behind the instrument cluster. This allows the power to run the GPS to be integrated into and requires nothing running back to my 12 volt outlet.
